NWS has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Montgomery
Co. & Prince Georges Co. until 2045hrs.
At 20:00hrs NWS radar indicated a severe thunderstorm. This storm was
located near Rockville and moving east at 23 mph. Hail to the size of
pennies and wind gusts to 60 mph can be expected in the warned area.

Hanna moving towards Mid Atlantic States
At 11:00am, The National Weather Service issued a TROPICAL STORM WARNING for The Baltimore/Washington region, to include Prince George’s County. At 5:00am, Satellite images indicated that Tropical Storm Hanna was located 430 South of Wilmington North Carolina. Hanna is moving NW as 20 MPH with winds of 65MPH and higher gusts.
Hanna is expected to reach the Baltimore/Washington metro areas as a Tropical Storm on Saturday. 4-8 inches of rainfall is expected with Hanna and higher amounts are possible. This amount of rain will lead to flooding of some streams and low lying areas. Sustained winds of 30-40 MPH are possible beginning Saturday morning and gusts to 50 MPH are possible. Power outages should be expected. There is a risk of isolated tornadoes on Saturday along and to the east of the I-95 corridor. Any remaining emergency preparations for this storm should be made now.
Tropical Storm Warnings are now in effect for all Coastal, Central and Southern MD Counties. Travel to coastal areas should be discouraged.
